During Counselling I found that most parents aspire their child to opt for CS in Engineering irrespective of the fact the student is interested or not. Keen to know, why the answer is CS is only the future of the global, easy jobs, higher pay scales. This led me to ponder how a student will perform well if the subject doesn’t interest him.
Here, I wish to bring to notice apart from Electrical, Mechanical, and CS one more Emerging branch in Engineering is Environmental Engineering which is the course of the future that most students are not aware of. It is the application of Scientific and Engineering Principals to maintain and improve the environment to protect health and the ecosystem. Education expert says with the increasing awareness about global warming this branch has an immense scope globally.
Environmental Engineering plays a vital role in various ways to protect the environment and help in sustainable development. It helps in the prevention of soil erosion, conservation of forests, reducing air and water pollution levels, development of smart agriculture, preservation of energy, and use of renewable sources.
It has a huge career scope in Government organizations, industrial companies, consultancy, Entrepreneurship (compliance with Environmental laws is mandatory for businesses), Research and Development, Green Marketing, and many more.
Students can go for BE/B. Tech Environmental Engineering followed by a master’s degree with a specialization is advisable. Before opting for any stream be clear about why you want to pursue the particular course and what would be your specialisation.
