Lilly Singh is a singing sensation amongst the senior citizen circle of Northern India. She has been a performing artist for 25 years and over these years she has done several hundred stage shows. Her voice is so mesmerizing that people listen to her songs hour after hour and often compare her voice with the legendary singer late Lata Mangeshkar.
She was born and brought up in Bikaner and started singing and performing on stage at the age of three years under her mother's guidance, who was a great singer. She has participated in and won many State and National awards both in singing and classical dancing during her school and college days.
After marriage to an Army Officer, she continued her passion for music and dance and always remained at the forefront in organizing and performing at a large number of Army Cultural Functions at various Military Stations including the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune.
After moving to Delhi in 1988, she has undergone formal training under Music Greats viz Pt Mani Parshad and Sh. R D Saxena completed Diploma in Classical Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.
It was only after her husband Col Parminder Singh's posting to Delhi,that she could achieve her ambition to perform in front of vast audiences and august gatherings on stage at various theatres and cultural forums in NCR and get herself recognized as an artist.
She is an approved and accredited artist of All India Radio, DoorDarshan Punjab Academy Delhi. She also continues her passion for music by teaching Children and interested ladies in the neighbourhood areas even today.
She has had the honour of singing on Stage with great singers viz. Asa Singh Mastana, Jaspinder Narula, Madan Bala Sindhu, Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan, as also with Shafaqat Amman Ali Khan at HUDA Gymkhana Club, Gurgaon, to name a few.
She is a great exponent of Shabad Gurbani and Bhajan Kirtan. She hastwo Shabad Kirtan Audio Cassettes /CDs to her credit viz. " Waho Waho Guru Gobind Singh Sahib" and " Eh Janam Tumahare Lekhe ". She has trained and formed a Kirtan Jathacomprising Ladies of Ridgewood Estate, Gurgaon, who regularly recite Shabad Gurbani in Gurdwaras as also sing Bhajan Kirtan during various Community religious functions in the entire DLF as Nishkam Seva.
A resident of Ridge Wood Estate in DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon, she is also aHouse Wife, mother and has been singing, performing and organizing musical events and functions at India Habitat Centre Delhi, Punjabi Academy foras, Epicentre Gurgaon and various other Theatres as a great passion.
She and her husband have been associated with Global Cultural Foundation (GCF), Gurgaon from the very inception, established for Senior Citizens. Lilly Singh has beenparticipating in GCF events to bring a smile to the Senior members of the society and has always been lauded by one and all for her selfless contribution to achieving the Foundation's goal.
“It is a great service to senior citizens of Delhi NCR. Most seniorcitizens tend to go into depression due to loneliness and they have to live alone far from children. But singing keeps them in good humour and cheerful,” said Lilly Singh.
The couple is also a dedicated member of the DLF Senior Citizen CouncilGurgaon from its inception. She has been actively performing in all their events held from time to time and has been always applauded by all the Members.
To follow up her compassion and on repeated requests from severalmembers of the DLF Senior Citizens Council, Gurgaon (including several Retired Senior Officers of Defence Forces). She very graciously consented to Coach and Guide them to bring out their Singing Talent.
Later on, she formed Sargam a dedicated Musical Group of SeniorCitizens and started training/coaching them at her Residence every week as a good will gesture and without any financial considerations. These are now called Sargam Musical Baithaks and all members keenly await for these Baithaks. Several Stage Performances have already been held by Sargam at various Theatres and Community Halls all over Gurgaon since then.
She is a recipient of several awards and rewards at the state andnational level. She feels great pleasure and is extremely happy performing and organizing musical events on stage, club events for the members and in wedding functions, anniversary parties etc.
