Dr Shiv Singh Rawat Superintending Engineer Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Department Gurgaon and Regional officer Atal bhujal yojna has been conferred upon with "National Water Resources Management Award- 2022" for outstanding contribution and achievements in water resources conservation and management by Confederation of Indian Universities New Delhi. The Board of Governors of Confederation of Indian Universities (CIU) have appreciated the outstanding contribution and achievements of Dr Rawat in the areas of water conservation and management.
According to Dr Priyaranjan Trivedi President CIU the award has been instituted and conferred upon Dr. Shiv Singh Rawat with a view to enabling him to throw himself into a new environment with full of zeal and enthusiasm so that the centre and state Governments and the civil society could use his expertise and knowledge to the fullest extent of his abilities with a view to his available talent and resources for having a cleaner, greener and prosperous India with a depolluted mother Earth and to solve all problems related to poverty, greed, pollution, unemployment, insurgency, intolerance and population explosion by introducing tools and techniques for having a sustainable society and a sustainable world by promoting national and international integration for managing the challenges of 21st century.
Dr Shiv Singh Rawat has more than 32 years vast experience in various government departments. He has visited Israeil and Australia for water conservation and management. He has dealt prestigious projects related to irrigation schemes and canal based drinking water to Southern Haryana including the millennium city Gurugram, and project for utilizing waste water for irrigation purpose and also rejuvenation of water bodies.He has delivered various talks and lectures relating to water conservation, management and environment in various universities/Institutes and he has also written many articles in various magazines and newspapers to create mass awareness about water conservation and management.
In addition to his official duties Dr Rawat has been actively involved in social services including fruit tree plantation, water awareness programs through Jal Panchayats, rejuvenation of ponds and abandoned wells, promoting green energy through installation of solar lights and solar street's in schools and villages. Dr Rawat is PhD from IIT Delhi. He was Nodal Officer of Village Adoption Program under Swachchata Initiative (VAPUSI) launched by IIT Delhi Alumni Association in 2018.
