Humans are the most complex species on the planet and are considered superior to all other species. But what differentiates them from the rest is the way their brains can work. It makes them the smartest creature on earth. What acts as a fuel for the mind is education. Education is the primary reason behind all the development this world has seen so far. It is not a luxury, but a necessity. To put it in the words of George Washington, “Education is the key that unlocks the door to freedom”.
Indian education system is nothing like it used to be 50 years ago. It has seen tremendous growth and development. It is considered as one of the best education systems in the world. A sharp growth in the economy is the resultant of an effective education system. The people of this country are more self- reliant, and their education has given them a better chance to choose a career and make a good living out of it.
As the famous philosopher Maimonides has said, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. Due to the increased literacy rates, a drop in poverty has been observed. A few years ago, the approach of the Indian education system was flawed as it was only theoretical, but later with time and grown awareness, the approach was completely changed to a more practical way of learning things that makes people ready for the future.
To takes things even higher, the New Education Policy was introduced in 2020 which will be completely implemented in India by 2025. This will empower a more developed and skilled youth of the country. It will solve the primary problem of the Indian education system- “if something is good for one student, it is equally befitting for others too”. This will be changed, and children will be given more freedom to choose the subjects of their liking and will be able to excel in their personal interests. This country has come a long way from what it used to be, and it has a longer way to go.
An effective education system will always be a key component for achieving new milestones and promoting overall standards of living amongst the people. It has undergone a great metamorphosis and has enabled millions of people in different forms, be it eradicating poverty or merely increasing income levels or creating technology and enlarging production worth billions. Every segment of society has benefitted from it and the growth streak continues.
